Now here is something no other website can offer you: The Old Ridges Historical Society's Website | [Keep in mind that none of the internal links on the pages work since the old site is defunct] |
Oh, something else you can't get from any other source TaDa: an Associated Press Clipping |
My suggestions to you: |
|
1. Read the Post 2. Search the Post online 3. Look at the spook file in Alden 4. Explore Athens! 5. Be friendly and ask a knowledgeable resident 6. Taking pictures is never a waste of money 7. Read The Headless Horseman by Washington Irving [it's not about Athens] but a great atmospheric yarn. |
8. October, being most likely my favorite month contains Halloween. What's on TV around Halloween? CLASSIC MONSTER MOVIES!! Oh yeah! Watch, rent, borrow or buy any monster movie made before 1945 [preferably 1930s]. This is my disclaimer about campy monster movies: [a] Sit though it, I think you'll enjoy the experience if you've the patience and a fun mindset. [b] Get in the mood to watch, lights off, cider or beer in hand, maybe a candle lit, stormy night outside. [c] The most important part: Give something a shot you wouldn't normally |
